is over. but first this here. new information just in to us at cnn. two iranian fighter jets fired at an unarmed u.s. predator drone. we're hearing it happened last week. barbara starr is at the pentagon for us with this exclusive report. barbara, tell us what you know. >> reporter: new military tensions now with iran. cnn has learned it was last thursday just one week ago that two iranian su-25, old russian fighter jets they operate flew out in to the persian gulf in to international air space and fired on a u.s. air force predator drone, an unmanned drone in international air space that the pentagon insists conducting routine all toe classified maritime surveillance. the iranian air force hit the drone. the drone was able to return to base in that region. but this does raise some serious new tensions with iran. it was, of course, just a few days before the presidential election. here in the united states. officials that we have talked to confirming it after we questioned them say they just don't know at this point what the iranians were up to. just out to cause trouble or trying

neighborhood of brooklyn queens. deb, tell us, a lot of folks, it must be devastating. they haven't had power since sandy, and now they're coping with yet another storm and the possibility that they're not going to have a power for quite some time. all right. i understand that we've lost deb there. we're going to get back to her as soon as we can. want to go and see if we can move on and we'll bring that to you later. people who, of course, are struggling because of sandy, they are getting a break from one wireless provider, thank goodness. they get some kind of break. verizon says it's going to waive all charges for text messages and calls between october 29, november 16th for those folks that li in places affected by the storm. so if you want to help storm victims in the northeast, it is easy. it's easy to do. just log on to cnn.com/impact and find all kinds of information, how to contribute to the relief effort. >>> around the world leaders congratulating the president on his re-election, but beyond the congratulations, president obama facing a world of challenges in his second term. from

. cars coming up to us right now. but the water was at the end of the block. it was not considered an evacuation zone, zone a,because of the fact that there's a parkway and they felt that would break the wave. it didn't. now people are describing it as a mini tsunami that they were running to try of get away from it. by the time they were able to get any evacuation orders, one man said he was up to his chest and it was simply too late. they didn't get the word. over here, you've got a light, a generator that's lighting up this area. a relief center. one of the assistant chief told me a little earlier that, in fact, people last night were together and they were crying. and i want to bring in wendy taylor here. wendy, your mom is out here and she is really -- how is she holding up? >> she's holding up as best to be expected right now. she has been in the they were hood for 72 years. she's lived in the house 50 years. she grew up here. and we're basically fending for ourselves right now. we are left to our own devices, to help each other because there has been no help from anybody els
